who we are
The Valley Forge Minutemen are a USA Hockey Tier I AAA program competing in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League (AYHL). For nearly 30 years, we’ve been developing elite players who want to train hard, compete at the highest level, and prepare for juniors, prep, and college hockey.
We are one of two premier youth hockey programs housed at Oaks Center Ice in Oaks, PA. Together with our Tier II partner program, the Valley Forge Colonials, we are part of a rink community that supports players from early skating through the highest levels of youth play, all under one roof.

OUR MISSION
The Minutemen program is dedicated to developing youth hockey players from 10U through 18U. Our mission is to give athletes the structure, coaching, and expectations they need to grow—as individuals and as teammates. That includes the work done on the ice, and the habits built away from it: education, nutrition, off-ice training, rest, and recovery.
We believe in teaching the game the right way: with hard work, discipline, and real respect for the details that make great players. But above all, we want to prepare players for the highest levels of hockey while also shaping the habits, discipline, and character that carry them forward in life well beyond their time here.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is simple: to cultivate exceptional players, while never losing sight of what really matters. We’re not interested in shortcuts, slogans, or empty promises. We’re here to do real work with players who love the game and want to compete among the best.

- High-Quality Coaching - Our coaches bring experience, clarity, and a steady approach to development. They don’t just run drills—they teach players how to think the game, compete, and carry themselves with purpose.
- Fundamentals Done Well - Great hockey starts with great habits. We emphasize strong skills, smart decisions, and repetition that builds confidence and consistency over time.
- Core Values That Matter - Respect. Honesty. Accountability. Team-first play. These aren’t buzzwords for us. They’re the expectations that shape how our athletes show up on the ice, in the locker room, and everywhere else.
- Compete the Right Way - We expect athletes to work hard, push each other, and take pride in the way they play. Competitive doesn’t mean cut-throat. It means disciplined, prepared, and committed.
- Teamwork & Responsibility - Hockey is a team sport, and we treat it that way. Players learn to show up for each other, communicate, and take ownership of their role.
OUR LEAGUE
The Minutemen compete in the Atlantic Youth Hockey League (AYHL) — the premier Tier I AAA league on the East Coast. AYHL play begins at 10U and runs through 18U, with Major/Minor levels at the younger ages and Elite/Premier divisions at the older ones.
This league is built for players who want to push their development and compete against the strongest teams in the region. It’s also the pathway to Districts, USA Hockey Nationals, and next-level opportunities in juniors, prep, and college hockey.
